4月18日上午，山东大学MTI教育中心主任侯萍萍老师应邀来我院作了题为“翻译与语境”的学术讲座。讲座由外国语学院党总支书记陈国兴主持，外国语学院部分教师、2018级翻译专业本科生以及2018级全体翻译硕士研究生参加。
讲座伊始，侯萍萍老师结合翻译理论，以泰山景区标志语翻译中存在的问题为切入点，向大家讲解了语境的重要性，并以此为例建议翻译过程中应培养翻译意识，注重翻译与语境之间的关系。其次，侯老师提出翻译的理解和表达环节都需要依据语境，并结合自身多年的口笔译经验，通过实际案例向同学们展示了语境在翻译过程中的复杂性。最后，侯老师讲到要“做心系读者的文化传播者”，增强跨文化交际意识，在翻译原著时，既要把握原文作者的意图，又要尽可能地把它在译文中完整、准确、地道地体现出来。
侯老师的讲座以翻译理论为基础，并以自身的翻译经历中的经验与教训为主线，充分讲解了“翻译与语境”之间的关系，这不仅给在场师生留下了深刻印象，也为今后同学们的翻译实践提供了极大的帮助。
Professor Hou Pingping, director of MTI Education Center of Shandong University, gave an academic report in our school
On the morning of April 18th, Professor Hou Pingping, director of MTI Education Center of Shandong University, was invited to give an academic lecture entitled Translation and Context. The lecture was hosted by Chen Guoxing, secretary of the general Party Branch of school of foreign languages. Some teachers of the school, undergraduates and all postgraduates majoring in translation of 2018 participated in the lecture.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Hou Pingping, combining translation theory, explained the importance of context from the point of view of the problems existing in the translation of slogan in Mount Tai scenic spot. As an example, she suggested that translation awareness should be fostered and the relationship between translation and context should be emphasized in the process of translation. Secondly, Professor Hou proposed that both understanding and expression of translation should rely on context. Combing with years of translation and interpretation experience, she showed students the complexity of context in the translation through practical cases. Finally, Professor Hou talked about being a cultural disseminator caring for readers and enhancing the awareness of cross-cultural communication. When translating the original work, we should not only grasp the original author's intention, but also try our best to reflect it completely, accurately and authentically.
Based on the translation theory, Professor Hou's lecture focused on her own experiences and lessons in translation and fully explained the relationship between translation and context, which not only impressed the teachers and students present profoundly, but also provided great help for students’ translation practice in the future.
